“The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for the Associated Press in what the news cooperative’s top executive called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into how news organizations gather the news.”*
The AP has revealed that the government perfomred an intrusive search on phone lines- even personl ones- associated with the AP. Why? Well, it couldn’t have anything to with a story broken about the govenrment, nor the AP’s reporters trying to keep their sources safe. Ben Makiewicz breaks down this blatant intrusion.
