Flint, Michigan has no plans to change its lead pipes anytime soon. It’s so costly and time consuming that the governor has decided to go in a different direction. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“The corroded lead water pipes ferrying tainted tap water to the city of Flint, MIwill stay as is for now, officials said this week.
In a press conference Wednesday, Michican gov. Rick Snyder said that replacing the pipes is not in the city’s short-term plans. Instead, officials say they arefocused on supplying bottled water and filters to the city’s affected residents—many of whom are below the poverty line—who have no clean water for activities like drinking, bathing, and cooking.
“In terms of short-term, it’s a lot of work to take out pipes, to redo all of the infrastructure, that’s a whole planning process,” Snyder told reporters.”*
