Hillary Clinton’s use in the 1990s of the term “Superpredator” to describe young black males who needed to be “brought to heel” has brought swift and pointed denunciation from some leaders in the African-American community.
In this portion of a longer interview with The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur, ColorOfChange.org co-founder James Rucker describes how the effect of coded racist terminology like “Superpredator” coming from mainstream political leaders is even more devastating than the more overt racism coming from Donald Trump.
Rucker and Uygur also discuss whether Clinton’s discussion of “superpredators” reflects her authentic personal views or if she was merely using coded racist language for short-term political gain.
